Laamu Atoll has some of the best waves in Maldives as there is not much land mass to the south and it can catch the swell generated in the far south of the Indian Ocean. Here you still find uncrowded waves and secret spots well worth the time to explore. At our water sports center you can try other water activities like windsurfing, jet skiing, SUP, kneeboarding, wakeboarding, water-skiing or leisurely canoe along the tropical beach.
The Laamu Atoll and Huvadhu Atoll are separate by the One and a Half Degree Channel. As there is not much land mass to the south of these Atolls, swells generated by the Roaring Forties (a weather phenomena created in the far south of the Indian Ocean) hit the islands of these Atolls, creating the best waves in the country. Spots in the Laamu Atoll are spread from the South-facing coastline along the east-facing up to the northeast corner where waves wrap around. As a result you will find spots protected from all wind directions except a rare straight easterly breeze. A surf trip to Laamu Atoll is unforgettable. Here you still find un-crowded waves and Laamu is still a relatively new discovery. Great fun surf spots close to Reveries Hotel are at Maibaadhoo Kandu (Left-hander and right – hander). Fushi Kandu (right –hander), Hithadoo Corner, Gadhoo Kandu and along the Fonadhoo out reef. The famous Ying Yang is the most consistent spot in Laamu atoll for surfers. It has long inside section and can produce some incredibly hollow barrels. Outside is a mellow wall with safe rides in deep water.
The Maldivian Surf Club provides a five star watersports service for Reveries guests. As a member of Isa and ASI, we provide dream surf holidays at realistic prices. We positively affect the surf tourism. We focus on education, employment and economic provision for locals. We let you surf uncrowded worldclass breaks and give back to the locals. We offer surf transportation service to more than 10 quality breaks around Laamu with a covered speed boat or dhoni. You can book a half day or full day of local surfing. Some of the local surf breaks are Isdhoo Bank, Langon Bank, Machines, Refugees left, Refugees right, Bedhuge, Yin Yang, Mada’s, Petrol Island,…
Surf lessons and coaching are available and equipment is available for rent. We organise surf yoga and surf fitness retreats on request. Other water sports activities on offer are kayak excursion, windsurfing, wakeboard, waterski, kneeboard, canoe, kayak, banana ride, jet ski,…
